Please look through our frequently asked questions below. If you can't find an answer to your question, feel free to contact us.

General

  • What is a marklet?
A marklet is what a bookmark should be. It’s an easy to access link to a favorite website, or a webpage you don’t want to forget, available anywhere on any device. You add your marklets to your account once, and then your desktop, laptop, tablet, and phone all have access to them anywhere you go. Even if you don’t have one of your devices with you, you can always access marklet from a friend’s computer or public computer whenever you need.
  • Do I need an account to use marklet?
Yes. Creating an account is as simple as clicking one button with facebook, or it takes about 20 seconds to fill out the form if you’d prefer to use an email address. Once your account is created, you’ll automatically be logged in and taken to your personal, customizable home page. Click here to sign up now!
  • Do I need to log in every time I use marklet?
No. Marklet will keep you logged in until you decide to log out. This means you can set marklet as your homepage and access it instantly every time your browser opens without the need to log in to the service. If you’re using a public computer, make sure to log off when you’re finished using marklet.
  • How do I set marklet as my home page?
To set marklet as your homepage, simply click on the Set Home Page link located in the top bar of your marklet dashboard. This button automatically detects the browser you’re using and will give you detailed, browser-specific instructions on how to set marklet as your homepage.
  • Can I use marklet on multiple devices at the same time?
Yes! Marklet is designed to work on an unlimited number of devices at the same time. Changes made on one device are instantly available on all of your other devices. You may need to reload your marklet dashboard if it was left open while you were making changes on another device. This happens automatically whenever you open a new browser window so it’s usually unnecessary to have to refresh manually.

Using Marklet

  • How do I add a new marklet?
To create a new favorite marklet, click on the large cloud icon with the heart in it labeled Add. You can add a maximum of 10 favorites. If you already have 10 favorites, the Add button will not be available. You will need to delete one of your favorites before you can add another one.

To add a new regular marklet, hover your mouse over the category where you’d like to create your new marklet. A button will appear labeled Add a Marklet.
  • Is there a faster way to add new marklets?
Yes! The marklet browser extension installs a button in your browser next to your address bar, similar to your home or favorites button. Then whenever you’re browsing a site that you’d like to add to your marklet account, you can simply click the button, choose a category, and the marklet will be created instantly.

The marklet extension is currently available for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. An Internet Explorer extension is in development, but it’s too soon to say when it will be available.
  • Can I import my bookmarks into marklet?
Yes! The marklet bookmark importer is available for all major browsers. You can access it by clicking on the Import Bookmarks button in the top bar of your marklet dashboard.
  • What is the different between favorites and regular marklets?
Favorites are displayed at the top of the page with large logos so they’re the fastest and easiest to access. These are the marklets you use most frequently and you can create up to 10 of them.

Regular marklets are listed with small icons and placed in categories to keep them organized. You can create up to 1000 marklets and there is no limit to how many you can put in any given category.
  • How do I create a new category?
Simply click on the New Category button located in the top bar of your marklet dashboard.
  • How do I rename or delete one of my categories?
Hover your mouse over the category you want to rename or delete. To rename, simply click Rename, change the text in the box, and then click Done. To delete, click on the Delete All button.
  • Can I rearange my marklets or change the categories they're in?
Yes! Rearranging marklets is as simple as clicking and dragging. You can drag a marklet to a different position in the same category, or drag it to an entirely different category. You can also click and drag the top bar of a category to rearrange your categories.
  • Why isn't there a logo for one of my favorites?
Our database of logos is constantly expanding, but we don’t have logos for every website. If you add a website to your favorites that's not in our logo database, our team will automatically be notified. A logo will be added for your favorite as soon as possible, usually in less than 24 hours.
  • How do I edit, copy, share, or delete one of my marklets?
Hover your mouse over the marklet you want to edit, copy, share, or delete. A toolbar will appear with all of the available actions.
  • Where can I change my password?
To change your password, click on your name in the top right of your marklet dashboard. A window will appear with the option to change your password. You'll need to type your current password before you can set a new one. If you don’t know your current password, you can reset it here.
  • Can I change my email address / login?
Yes. To change your email address, click on your name in the top right of your marklet dashboard. A window will appear with the option to change your email address. You will need to type your current password before you are able to change your email address. If you don’t know your current password, you can reset it here. Once you change your email address, you will no longer be able to log in using your old email address.
  • Does marklet open links in a new window?
By default, marklet opens all links in a new window. For most browsers, this is highly recommended. This is because most modern browsers open these new windows as tabs. When you’re done browsing a site, you can simply close the tab and you’ll be right back at your marklet dashboard. If you want to change this setting, you can do so by clicking on your name in the top right of your marklet dashboard.
  • Why is my marklet or category not being created?
You are limited to adding 1000 marklets and 100 categories. Once you reach the maximum, you'll need to delete one of your marklets or categories to add a new one. We may increase or remove this limitation in the future. If you'd like to increase the space in your marklet account, please contact us.

Browser Extensions

  • How does the marklet extension make adding marklets easier?
The traditional way to add a marklet is by opening your marklet dashboard, manually entering a name for the marklet, and then either typing or copy-pasting a website address (URL). With the marklet extension, all you have to do is click the marklet button, select a category, and the website you’re currently viewing will be added to your marklet account automatically. There isn’t a better or faster way to add a marklet!

Mobile

  • Is there a marklet app for my phone?
We are currently developing native apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry. Details about these apps will be posted when we are closer to release. In the meantime, our HTML5 mobile website offers almost all of the functionality of a native app, including adding, editing, and deleting marklets, and it works on just about every mobile device.
  • How do I access the mobile website?
Simply visit marklet.com from your mobile phone and it should automatically detect your phone and display the mobile site. In the event that your phone isn’t detected, just go to marklet.com/mobile. We recommend using the full website on large tablets such as the iPad.
  • How do I create a marklet button on my iPhone/iPad?
You can create a marklet button that looks identical to an App by opening marklet.com in Safari on your iPhone/iPad. Then tap on the middle icon at the bottom of Safari that looks like an arrow coming out of a box. Tap the button labeled Add to Home Screen and a marklet button will now appear on your home screen. You can click on this button at any time to view your marklets.

  • Can I rearrange marklets using the mobile site?
Unfortunately, this is the only function that is not available on the mobile website. To rearrange your marklets you’ll need to visit your marklet account using a computer rather than a touch-screen device. We are currently working on our native apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone, & Blackberry. The drag and drop functionality for rearranging marklets will be available in the native apps.
